A once ‘unbuildable’ lot becomes a hillside home rooted in the trees.

The house reflects the owner’s deep desire to live with nature and experience the life cycle of the plants and animals that are attracted to the varied habitat. The site is situated in an area bordering the Ventura River Preserve and adjoining mountains.. Designed for the possibility to live in either house, the client requested a split building program with a goal to rent one structure while living in the other. Due to its close proximity to downtown Ojai, Sky House (located on Skyhigh Drive becomes a destination that blends permanence and interim life.
